Huntington Collection - Baltimore County Deeds

These are part of the "security" microfilms created in 1945-1946 from colonial-era records to ensure that important historical records would not be lost in case of damage from war activities.

Note that the full table is arranged by the TE1 numbers 1-256. These are the original film numbers, but are of no real significance. The following is only the part of this data set containing the Baltimore County deeds. This really serves no function unless a page in the primary source is blurred or missing. In such a case, use the following index to find the right book. There is still a trick to find the right page. When you click on a link, it takes you to the first page of the book, sometimes starting with an index for that book. The "Jump to Page" entry on the top of the web page is confusing, since it just takes you to that image number within the current film, not the page ("folio") number, which includes other books. So use the following "tips".

  • If you want to go to folio "x", note what page is currently being displayed in the image. Note also what image you are currently on (shown in large letters near the top of the page and also at the end of the URL displayed in the address bar of your browser, for example: msa_te_1_120_0050. Figure how many folios you need to advance (or go back) and add (or subtract) half of that to the number ("0050" in this example). Edit the address bar to change it or you may enter this number in the "Jump to Page" field.
  • If you are having trouble reading the small image, like seeing the folio number, first select the "Enlarge and print image" (which really is not print at all). When this larger image is displayed (in PDF), you should then be able to enlarge the view to read it. To change to another page, follow the instruction above, except that the current image number is only shown in the address bar and can only be changed there.
  • Note, if you don't see the address bar in your brower, it has probably been hidden with a "search" bar shown instead. Of course, you cannot use this. Fix your browser through "options" or "tools" to make the address bar show. (I strongly recommend getting rid of any "search" bar that Google or Bing or anyone else added to your browser. These are stupid and just take up valuable screen space.)
